SI Alliance – Staten Island Alliance for North Shore Children & Families

Child Readiness

Children have exposure to meaningful and appropriate development opportunities and access to systems of supports to be successful when transitioning to school.
Cultivating Young Minds

Our Shared Vision

Research shows that children need exposure to meaningful developmental opportunities and access to specific systems of support in order to make the transition from home to school. Yet, the North Shore ranks 56th out of 59th of NYC school districts for early education enrollment for 3 and 4 year-olds.

To better prepare the North Shore’s young children for the transition from home to school, the Staten Island Alliance helps families gain access to early educational opportunities that increase their cognitive, physical, social, and emotional skills development. Our efforts aim to prepare children for success from the moment they step into their first classroom.

What We Do

We help families gain access to early educational opportunities that increase their cognitive, physical, social, and emotional skills development.

Why We Do It

Research shows that children need exposure to meaningful developmental opportunities and access to specific systems of support in order to make the transition from home to school.

How We Will Measure Success

The Staten Island Alliance will use the following criteria to monitor the success of outcomes for our family engagement efforts:

1

An increase in the number and percent of children deemed kindergarten ready, as measured by age-appropriate literacy and numeracy skills.

2

An increase in the number and percent of children deemed kindergarten ready, as measured by age-appropriate social and emotional development.
